Kayla Adebajo, NP-PHC
Primary Health Care Nurse
With vast experience in the nursing and healthcare industry, Kayla continuously thrives on knowing the latest health research. She holds 20+ years of healthcare experience and has witnessed the damaging effects of disease from a lack of nutrition and sedentary living.
Kayla was raised on a 60-acre farm that adhered to organic practices. Coming from an African and Caribbean background, her upbringing emphasized herbs and natural health foods. At the start of her nursing career, Kayla gained experience in cardiology, oncology, and emergency medicine, and had the desire to expand her knowledge of disease prevention. Deep down, she was aware that integrative and preventative care could help her patients optimally function. This led her to uncover alternatives in healing and medicine, such as energy medicine, and she eventually obtained her Reiki Master Practitioner license.
To appease her curiosity for Eastern medicine, Kayla embarked on a personal path by moving to British Columbia, where she was exposed to holistic nutrition, veganism and vegetarianism, spirituality, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Buddhism and permaculture. In British Columbia, she completed training in medical herbology, aromatherapy, and nutraceuticals. She also grasped an understanding of other healing modalities, including the body work of Feldenkrais, Rolfing, and craniosacral therapy.
Kayla’s extensive knowledge has enabled her to approach treatments holistically, incorporating preventative and integrative services. She is a practitioner of medical acupuncture and proficient in the use of adaptogens and supplements; recently, she completed her training in IV vitamin therapies. Kayla is also familiar both dermatopathological conditions and dermal aesthetics. She was previously a medical director/trainer for Toronto cosmetic clinics, offering treatments for both hair restoration and facial rejuvenation.
She’s currently serving as one of our integrative nurse practitioners at the Toronto Functional Medicine Centre, where she specializes in testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for men. Kayla’s additional services include:
In her personal and professional life, she integrates vibrational medicine and bodywork with holistic nutrition, dance, yoga, meditation and exercise.
